The broken bride

Marcel has seen how visibly shattered Sandrine was. He assured Sandrine that he loved her and that she was the love of his life. All the nasty comments and insults should not matter – they were married now and nobody could do a thing about it now.

Despite these reassurances, Sandrine could not help but feel heartbroken. A bride should be treated like a princess on her wedding day but people were treating her like she was the village monster. It was clear that people saw her as an enemy.

A difficult existence

Marcel’s closest friends and family couldn’t hide their disapproval of Sandrine since their union. Months after their first meeting, she was still labeled a gold digger, enduring disdainful glances when she ventured outside. Living in the village became increasingly challenging as hostility from the community persisted, making her life there very difficult.

Struggling with the hostile environment, Sandrine made extra efforts to display her affection for Marcel in public. She shared pictures and selfies of them together, attempting to demonstrate her genuine love. Despite their happiness, the villagers remained skeptical, their suspicions about her motives deeply ingrained and difficult to overcome.

A strange arrangement

One day, Sandrine and Marcel had a talk. She told him it was exhausting for her to live in the village where everyone clearly hated her. Marcel, naturally, refused to move and be far from his family and friends. As the conversation went on, they decided to take a unique approach to their marriage.

They decided not to live together. While it would take months for newlyweds to keep their hands off each other, the case was different for Marcel and Sandrine. It seemed that the two were completely at ease with this arrangement.

A long-distance marriage

When everyone heard of this arrangement, their hate for Sandrine definitely grew. If you truly loved each other, how could you spend life apart? The arrangement was not something as simple as Sandrine living outside the village.

In fact, the arrangement was for Sandrine to go back to Paris while Marcel stayed in the village. When friends and family asked for reasons, Marcel said that Sandrine had to run her real estate business in Paris while Marcel had to stay and overlook his properties.

Escaping the hermit life

Their unconventional arrangement stirred gossip within the community. Rumors spread, and Sandrine clarified that her frequent trips to Paris were for business purposes. She emphasized that both she and Marcel could easily visit each other, dismissing concerns about the distance between them and asserting it wasn’t a significant issue.

Villagers believed Sandrine’s departure to Paris was due to her struggle with Marcel’s simplistic, hermit-like lifestyle in the wooden cottage. As a Parisian accustomed to luxury, fine dining, and a vibrant lifestyle, she found the village’s quiet, laidback atmosphere incompatible with her preferences.

An unfortunate incident

A year into their marriage, during one of Sandrine’s visits to Marcel, she brought a bunch of her friends with her. They all went on a road trip to show Sandrine’s friends around until they lost control of the vehicle. The accident caused Marcel to lose his life and Sandrine was widowed.

Marcel’s unexpected passing left the entire village in mourning. Local residents and neighboring communities came together to commemorate the humble millionaire who had impacted their lives in his unassuming manner. A large gathering offered assistance for the funeral, ensuring that Marcel received a dignified farewell, with the service held in the village chapel.
